2022 was a hard year for fans of The CW. So many shows were canceled, including Batwoman, but fans rallied. The camaraderie and dedication shown by the Batwoman fandom as they fought for renewal and then transitioned to fight to bring the show back after cancellation was awe inspiring. There's been so much love poured out by fans to the cast, crew, and team behind the series. A seemingly endless well of gratitude springs forth from the show's fans and it's their tenacity that should be remembered as well as their humor, devotion, and fight to champion the diverse stories being told on Batwoman.

The Batwoman fandom rallied together to work to try and get the show renewed and, while they were unsuccessful, their passion was felt across the Internet, by the team behind the show, and out in the streets with billboards honoring the show being raised by fans. The amount of heart in this fandom, the kindness, and the genuine love each fan feels for the show, the folks behind it, and their community is inspiring and a beacon of joy and light in fan spaces across the globe.
What emotion defined this fandom this year?
Perseverance. The Batwoman fandom has always fought to defy the odds. Those who stayed in the community after Ruby Rose left embraced Javicia Leslie wholeheartedly and carried that fighting spirit from season 2 into season 3 promoting the show’s growth and uplifting the cast for the truly amazing storytelling that unfolded onscreen. They have never let naysayers, trolls, or bad-faith arguments deter their love for Batwoman and their desire to share the show’s positive messages and wonderful characters with others.
