First Kill

SEE ALL TV
First Kill premiered on Netflix when the streaming giant was in dire need of more LGBTQ+ content. More specifically, sapphic love stories. It provided plenty of positive representation and didn't make sexuality a huge deal like many other shows. I loved that queerness was normalized and never seen as an issue or something to be looked down on. But what I loved the most about First Kill was that at the head of the show were two strong female characters. Sadly, the vampire-centric series was canceled after only one season. However, First Kill will forever remain in my heart, and I will never forget how big of an impact this show had on my life.

Best fan moment of the year

My best fan moment of the year was being noticed by First Kill cast members Imani Lewis and Dominic Goodman on Twitter. I replied to two of their tweets showing them love, and they messaged me back. I will forever remember that day.

What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now

We'll remember that First Kill showed Netflix, and other streaming platforms, that there is a great need for more WLW content. Although the vampire series was ultimately canceled, the fans remain persistent. They will do whatever it takes to get First Kill picked up because there are not enough shows featuring queer female characters.
