Georgia Football

SEE ALL College
Since last year's Fandoms of the Year, the boys got the thing done up in Indianapolis!. A team led by a historically great defense avenged its lone loss of the season to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The national championship victory was validation for all that former Dawgs all-conference safety Kirby Smart has done for his alma mater's program. Georgia was always capable of this, but for now, the Dawgs are well on their way towards being the best program in college football. All the while, Dawg Nation has been there every step of the way. Though the Dawgs may not repeat as national champions in 2023, they have asserted themselves as a cornerstone upon which the next generation of college football will be built on. Dawgs on top, baby!

Best fan moment of the year

Let's be real. Nothing is going to top Kelee Ringo pick-sixing Bryce Young to seal the deal in Indianapolis. Of all the program-defining plays in Georgia football history, this is right up there with Buck Belue to Lindsay Scott for six in the Cocktail Party and Verron Haynes stepping on Tennessee's face with a Hobnail Boot to break the Vols' nose. We would have done anything to hear Larry Munson on the call for this play, but we all know he was smiling down from above, taking it all in.

What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now

With Georgia arriving as a national power, there will be another program looking to join its ranks in the early 2030s. A passionate fanbase, a committed athletic department and deep-pocketed boosters will decide that good isn't good enough anymore. That program will pivot off its version of Mark Richt for either a top-flight coach on the come-up, or better yet, one of their own like Kirby Smart. No matter how long it takes, that other fanbase will look at what Georgia did under Smart as the shining example of what could be and how it will all be worth it in the end. We will remember the patience, sacrifice, heartache and pain Dawg Nation experienced to reach the summit for the first time in 41 years. No matter how long it takes to do it again, we will forever remember the historic climb.
