Why you should join this fandom

Stop me if you've heard this before, but this show is really, REALLY good. The comedy is subtle but poignant. The overarching story is flush with twists and turns that will leave the most jaded of mystery fans guessing. The characters are relatable, constantly evolving, and challenged to grow through both the murders they investigate and the happenings of their personal lives. And, when all else fails, the trio of Martin Short, Selena Gomez, and Steve Martin always manage to deliver. If you're looking for a show to put on and allow to develop, Only Murders in the Building is the perfect show for you. It will make you laugh, it will make you feel. The only downside: In the end, it will make it almost impossible to not put off sleep in favor of watching the next episode.

How this fandom is changing entertainment

This cast is epitomizing the diversity that is making Hollywood more accessible, relatable, and influential than perhaps ever before. Two of the show's main characters are played by Steve Martin, 77, and Martin Short, 72. In an industry that is always looking for the new, Martin and Short are proving that there is no expiration date on talent or innovation. The other main character is played by Selena Gomez, who is shattering expectations for former Disney stars turned dramatic actors. She is also of Mexican descent, which is a welcome departure from the whitewashed approach to mainstream television as far as leading characters are concerned. Throw in the scene-stealing performances by Da'Vine Joy Randolph as Detective Williams and Aaron Dominguez as Oscar, as well as the willingness to acknowledge and represent interracial relationships and the LGBTQ+ community, and this brilliant whodunnit show is a breath of fresh air in every sense.
