Overwatch is the competitive first-person shooter made for people who aren't particularly good at the genre. And this year, Blizzard is stepping it up a notch with the release of Overwatch 2. Everything people loved, just more of it. New maps. New heroes. Same great storyline. And just as accessible for people who don't have quick-twitch reflexes. What's not to love?

Why you should join this fandom
The company behind the game may be rather unsavory, but the game is just fun. Overwatch is a team first-person shooter made so that you can still have a lot of fun without super fast-twitch skills. Not great at sniping? That's OK. You can choose a character who makes a turret. Or uses a beam. Or sprays healing mist. And still be useful to your team and have a whole lot of fun.
What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now
On October 4, Overwatch 2 was released. Intended to be a free-to-play version, it was a colossal failure to launch due to myriad reasons from denial of service attacks to bad planning on Activision-Blizzard's part. That's going to be remembered for awhile. But after a few bad days, things seem to have settled in and a month later the game is back to being a fun pastime.
