This could be our first year making the playoffs in 21 years! A lot of bad memories for Mariners fans since 2001, but the future is looking bright and we're about to (knock on wood) sneak into the postseason.

Best fan moment of the year

It had to be Cal Raleigh’s walk-off homer in the bottom of the ninth late in the season against the Athletics. It had been 21 years since the Mariners made the playoffs, but Raleigh’s dinger clinched an AL Wild Card spot. Just like that, more than 20 years of pain and suffering was wiped away with one beautiful swing of the bat.

Why we needed this fandom this year

The Mariners were so close to making the postseason last campaign, but things didn’t work out in the end. With rookie Julio Rodriguez becoming a huge name for the city, everyone was hoping this would finally be the year where this team could get over the top. Not only did the Mariners make it to the postseason, but they also upset the Blue Jays in the AL Wild Card round. While they fell to the eventual ALCS champs the Houston Astros, it doesn’t take away from the memorable 2022 this team provided us. Seattle provided countless people with hope and they proved a lot of its doubters wrong.
