Although Wakanda Forever came out in the fall of 2022, it was early in 2023 that Bassett's performance as Queen Ramonda saw her making Marvel history. Bassett became the first actor to win a Golden Globe for their work in a Marvel Studios project, as well as the first actor to ever be nominated for an Oscar for their work in a Marvel movie. Although Bassett was robbed of her Oscar moment, she still made history with her award season wins and broke barriers for Marvel Studios. Bassett is a powerhouse that deserves to be celebrated, and there is no denying her performance in the Black Panther films will go down as one of the greatest in cinema history.
