In their third season in the NWSL, the KC Current might not have been a playoff team but the fans showed up and broke the franchise attendance record four different times. Next year, they'll move into their own stadium in downtown Kansas City — the first-ever stadium built for a women's professional sports team — and the fans will continue to be loud and proud. There's a reason why Kansas City is the Soccer Capital of America.

Best fan moment of the year
In a 1-0 game against the OL Reign, goalkeeper AD Franch stopped a penalty kick from Jordyn Huitema that would have tied the game. When Franch made the save, the 13,455 fans in attendance roared with excitement and reportedly registered 117.3 decibels. Oh, and obviously, the Current won the game.
What is this fandom’s best tradition?
As the players are on the field waiting for the whistle to blow to signal the start of play, someone with KC connections counts the crowd down and then everyone yells together “KC BABY!“ and the game begins. This tradition dates back to the 2021 inaugural season when the team had yet to be named and the players would say it to each other in the huddle.
