Nikola Jokic

Voter fatigue played a role in Nikola Jokic not winning his third consecutive regular season MVP title. He proved his naysayers wrong in the playoffs by winning something even better: the 2023 NBA Finals MVP. Nothing is boring about his game, from the iconic Sombor Shuffle to his wild passes that make you pinch yourself to make sure you're not in the middle of a dream. He's the best player in the world, yet he isn't your typical superstar because he shies away from the spotlight. Make no mistake, though, Jokic is great for the game of basketball, even if he would sometimes rather watch horses race on his phone.

What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now

Jokic isn't the flashiest or quickest player on the floor, but he does a lot of things that a center shouldn't be able to do. He plays in slow motion yet still makes the game look so easy, all while outworking his opponents. Some will remember him for treating the NBA like a 9-5 job, while others will remember his dominance.

Why you should join this fandom

Jokic isn't going to be putting on triple-double clinics forever, and there's no better time than the present to appreciate his game. It helps that the Nuggets are reigning champions and employ the best starting five in the league, but you shouldn't have to be a Denver fan to be in awe of the way Jokic plays.
