Sophie Wilde became one of my favorite actresses this year. I was already familiar with some of her work, but when I saw her in the 2023 horror movie Talk to Me, I had no other choice but to stan. I loved how she managed to win me over with just one role. She truly gave an amazing performance in the film. I chose to nominate this talented actress because she’s clearly on a rapid rise to stardom and I want more people to join the fandom to see her shine.

I would say the icon or totem for this fandom this year was a creepy embalmed hand. Not a real embalmed hand, of course. It’s symbolic of Sophie’s biggest project to date, the movie Talk to Me.
How this fandom is changing sports
Sophie Wilde is changing the entertainment industry by opening doors for more African-Americans and POCs to star in horror films. While we have seen more people of color appear in horror movies over the years, they don’t usually star in leading roles. Sophie Wilde has become one of the actors to show that it’s possible.
