XO, Kitty was everything and more to me this year. I’m a huge K-Drama fan, so to see an American series filled with K-Drama elements, I just knew I had to watch it. I loved how cute and campy it was. It’s the type of show that isn’t meant to be taken seriously. It’s a feel-good series that you can easily watch over and over again. I nominated XO, Kitty for this year’s Fandoms of the Year because it’s a show that I believe deserves all the praise and recognition.

How this fandom is changing entertainment
XO, Kitty is changing entertainment by putting people of color in the forefront. Over the years, we’ve seen more Asian representation in the media, but it’s still not enough. XO, Kitty features a mostly Asian cast, all in leading roles. We don’t see this often. Everybody deserves to see themselves on TV, and XO, Kitty understands the importance.

The emotion that defined this fandom this year is excitement. In June 2023, Netflix renewed the teen series for a second season. We’re excited that we get to see the return of all our favorite characters, and we’re curious to know how the story will continue.
