Evil Joel McHale

Watch him from afar, staring with disgust. Feel him looming, stewing with resentment. Cower from his words, spit out like hot knives. Isn't that ... the guy from The Soup? Comedian Joel McHale's vindictive side has been on display in snippets and flashbacks since Season 1 of “The Bear,“ but his monstrous Michelin Star Chef character received a gleeful spotlight in this summer's season. Unsurprisingly, McHale's wry smile proved to be hiding no softer side; he really is just that proudly despicable. It's an impressively villainous turn for a hilarious man, who might've also picked up a trick or two hosting E! Network's “House of Villains,“ featuring a cavalcade of Reality TV enemies. There's a bit of Omarosa in his performance after all.

What emotion defined this fandom this year?

Joy at realizing that, yet again, a famed comedian we all know and love deserves extra credit for hidden dramatic chops. Over and over and OVER again. Maybe we'll all learn, as an audience, to trust that the skills are there next time.

What is this fandom’s best tradition?

Ogling some sort of award-winning culinary foam alongside McHale and realizing, “Yeah ... that actually does not look good, he's right”
