After nearly two years, House of the Dragon returned with its highly anticipated sophomore season in 2024. There was a lot on the line when the fandom got to reunite with their favorite characters, and as the war officially began in Westeros, we got an epic battle, more dragons, and more deaths. It might not have been the perfect season, but it was amazing to see the show's developments and become obsessed with new characters.

Best fan moment of the year
Though many were disappointed with the season 2 finale, one moment that stood out for the fandom was the Battle at Rook’s Rest. The highly anticipated fight didn’t disappoint, delivering awesome dragon-on-dragon combat and making meaningful changes from the source material that added layers of complexity to the episode. And after “The Red Dragon and the Gold“ premiered, it was such a blast going onto social media to geek out with the fandom.
What emotion defined this fandom this year?
Passion, without a doubt. The Game of Thrones franchise fandom is one of the biggest in entertainment, and those who stuck around to enjoy the prequel spinoff show their passion with every watch, every social media post, and every piece of merchandise purchased. While we may not always agree on our favorite characters or moments, one thing is clear: the fandom’s connection to this universe runs deep.
