Jannik Sinner

Jannik Sinner is one of the two great young players in men's tennis. He, along with Carlos Alcaraz, proved in 2024 that the mantle left by Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, and Rafael Nadal is in good hands. He became the first Italian player to reach No. 1 on the ATP tour, and his two Grand Slam victories in 2024 helped set the stage for the next decade that the ATP tour will be ruled by Alcaraz and Sinner. Both appear to be exceedingly nice people, too, and that should only help grow the popularity of the sport.

Why we needed this fandom this year

Tennis had to have something happen. With Roger Federer retired, Rafael Nadal retiring this year and Novak Djokovic closing in on the end of his career, there was going to be a void of interest in the sport. Sinner's ability to come across as a great player and a good person is going to give fans something to root for. His abilities on the court are going to be something other players are envious of.

What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now

Jannik Sinner is only 23 years old and is just beginning to make his long-term mark on tennis. He won his first two majors in 2024, but a decade from now he and Carlos Alcaraz could be challenging all-time records for most Grand Slam wins. 2024 is just the first step in what will likely be an all-time great career.
