Kansas City Chiefs

SEE ALL Football
The Kansas City Chiefs did something this year that no team has done in 20 years, and they did it in their own way. After winning the Super Bowl in the 2022 season with the top offense in the league and the league MVP, Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs fell from grace a bit in the 2023 season. With the worst drop rate in the league and no help from the offense around him, Mahomes was still able to lead his team back to the Super Bowl and win it again for the second year in a row in a season where no one thought it was even possible with the way they played.

Best fan moment of the year

The best fan moment of the year is actually not the Super Bowl, even though that was amazing. The best moment was actually when the Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bills in the Divisional Round of the NFL Playoffs because it was the first playoff game Patrick Mahomes had played outside of Arrowhead Stadium other than Super Bowls. Everyone said that Mahomes hadn't proven he could do it away from his home stadium and without the crowd behind him. But he did it not just once, but twice to beat the Bills and the Baltimore Ravens.

What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now

Of course, it's when the Chiefs won the Super Bowl and officially became back-to-back champions, the first team since the Patriots did it in 2003-04. The best thing about winning the Super Bowl is that while, yes, we were the favorites, throughout the season, analysts doubted we would be able to do it because of the way our team looked in the regular season. It wasn't until the playoffs that anyone truly believed we could do it, so proving everyone wrong made this Super Bowl even sweeter.
