Kansas City Royals

SEE ALL Baseball
After some lean years, the Kansas City Royals gave their fans a lot to cheer about in 2024. Not only did the team make the playoffs for the first time in nine years but Bobby Witt Jr. was an MVP candidate and fans knew anytime he stepped up to the plate that he had a chance to change the game. Witt made it to the finals of the Home Run Derby, which was a ton of fun for Royals fans to see their guy in the spotlight.

Why you should join this fandom

The Royals deserve to be a part of the Fandoms of the Year in 2024 because they're not typically a team that people think about when talking about Major League Baseball. The only way the Royals get any kind of a shout-out is if they're competitive, which they were this year. Bobby Witt Jr. will hopefully be a talking point for them for a very long time and Royals fans are the most optimistic about their team they have been in nearly a decade.

What we’ll remember about this fandom a decade from now

When fans look back at this season 10 years from now, they might not remember how far the Royals went but they'll always remember the insane stats that Witt had (he slashed .332/.389/.588 with 32 home runs, 109 RBI and stole 31 bases). The Royals might not be the flashiest team in the league but Witt, fan-favorite Salvador Perez and their strong pitching made them a team that was incredibly likable and fun to watch in 2024.
