Minnesota Lynx

SEE ALL Basketball
The Lynx were mostly an afterthought in season previews, framed as a fringe contender that needed everything to break right in order to challenge the Storm, Aces and Liberty. Well, it happened — Napheesa Collier played like an MVP (eventually settling for Defensive Player of the Year), Courtney Williams proved to be one of the best offseason additions in the league, Alanna Smith and Bridget Carleton stepped up and they balanced suffocating defense with a versatile and efficient offense. In the end, they pushed their way into the championship conversation and gave the Liberty all they could handle in one of the most dramatic WNBA Finals ever.

Best fan moment of the year

The Lynx had their hearts broken in the WNBA Finals but never seemed closer to ultimate victory than they did in Game 1 when Courtney Williams helped power them to an overtime win at Madison Square Garden. Williams poured in 15 points in the fourth quarter and overtime and showed that she and her team weren't afraid of the moment or willing to surrender even an inch to the favored Liberty.

Why you should join this fandom

The Lynx are already one of the most successful and highly decorated franchises in WNBA history but if you're still getting in on the ground floor with this league, hop on the Lynx bandwagon and ignore the haters. They have the best coach in the league, Cheryl Reeve, and an absolute star in Collier who is still just 28 and has years of elite basketball ahead of her. The Lynx accelerated their timeline last season and they're firmly back in the championship mix.
