Outer Banks

SEE ALL TV
Outer Banks is more than just the best Netflix original teen series of all time — it’s a lifestyle. It’s about living the Pogue Life, loyalty to your friends (and sometimes family), and having a good time ... all the time. That’s why I nominated Outer Banks fans for the 2024 Fandoms of the Year list. We had to wait a long time for Outer Banks season 4 to premiere this fall, but the fans tuned in from the second Netflix dropped the new season. It wasn’t the ending we were expecting or hoping for, but the fans and their support are also why Netflix renewed Outer Banks for a fifth and final season. Not many Netflix shows get renewed for five seasons!

What is this fandom’s best tradition?

Outer Banks fans’ best tradition is easily the Poguelandia event in California and the pop-ups Netflix does around the world to promote new seasons. Outer Banks premiered in 2020 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Until the release of season 3 in early 2023, Outer Banks fans had not gathered in one location! Netflix has more than made up for that with Outer Banks parties in cities around the world, along with the Poguelandia concert event on the beach in Santa Monica for the season 3 and season 4 premiere. We can’t wait for the next Poguelandia event for Outer Banks season 5!

Why you should join this fandom

You’re running out of time to join the Outer Banks fandom! As mentioned, Outer Banks season 5 is going to be the final season of the series. It will likely premiere in 2025 or 2026. You have the opportunity to be there for the end, which is sure to be an exciting and emotional rollercoaster ride for those who have been tuning in since season 1. On top of that, there are few fandoms as supportive and fun-loving as the Outer Banks fans. There’s always a lot of drama because of how much these fans care about the stories, characters, and cast, but for the most part, it’s good fun to watch alongside supportive fans.
