Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Percy Jackson and the Olympians fandom is growing quite rapidly with the release of the new Disney+ series based on Rick Riordan’s book series in late 2023. For the most part, Percy Jackson and the Olympians became a huge TV series in 2024, so that’s why I thought it was a good idea to nominate the fandom for the 2024 Fandoms of the Year. It’s been a long road for book readers and Percy Jackson fans like me after FOX pulled the plug on the failed movie series in the mid-2010s. Usually, book adaptations get one chance to make an impact in TV or film. Because Percy Jackson fans are so passionate, Disney was willing to take another chance on this story, and it’s definitely paid off. I’m just excited so many more people are introduced to this enchanting world that Riordan created.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians fans’ best moment of the year was easily the Hall H panel at 2024 San Diego Comic-Con. Hall H is reserved for the biggest and most popular entertainment entities and Percy Jackson and the Olympians fans packed Hall H to see the cast talk about the new season. Hopefully, this becomes a summer tradition for Percy Jackson and the Olympians fans.

In a decade, hopefully, the Percy Jackson fans will be remembered for being a passionate, supportive, tolerant and empathetic community. I also hope that the fans showed up and supported the cast and creators of this story across five-plus seasons on Disney+. If we keep watching, Disney will make sure that this story is done right.
