Travis Hunter

There are a lot of overused and bombastic terms and phrases in sports — generational, once in a lifetime. Travis Hunter is the rare exception for whom those clichés actually work. The Colorado football player is a true two-way player, playing both wide receiver and defensive back. He isn’t just taking snaps on both sides of the ball, he’s playing entire games at each position — and dominating. An argument can be made that he’s the best wide receiver in college football and the best corner. However, there isn’t an argument about who’s the best player in college football — it’s Travis Hunter.

How this fandom is changing sports

Travis Hunter is treating the highest level of college football like high school or little league, when the best athlete played the entire game on both sides of the ball and led his team to victory. While that has long been acceptable at the high school level, Hunter is showing it’s possible at the collegiate level as well. Everyone won’t be able to do it, but he’s definitely encouraging a ton of people to try.
