Trying started back in 2020 on Apple TV+ as a relationship comedy (with Big Ted Lasso Energy), focused on the struggles of Jason and Nikki as they navigate the terrifying and byzantine process of adoption. Four years later, the fourth season has cemented its evolution into something so much more — a still touching and laugh-until-you-cry exploration of what it means to be family and how love can hold one together no matter how unconventional it may appear at first glance.

Why you should join this fandom
Trying might be the first show to successfully nail a time-jump (six years heading into season 4). Even with that move, some new cast members and at least a few increasingly ludicrous plot points, the show still hasn't wavered at all from its emotional center. Season 5 is coming and this is an ensemble that just keeps getting better, together.
Why we needed this fandom this year
An ending doesn't have to be perfect to be happy, to fill you with joy and love and bring you closer together. There can be beauty in chaos — Trying sends that message perfectly and it's one we can't hear often enough in this big, scary world.
