Defensive Role: Interior Anchor
Splash Mountain is still splashing at age 36. Lopez continues to be a top-level defender and the Bucks are actually better defensively than offensively this season. They would be lost without Lopez’ rim protection.

Lopez’ box score stats haven’t really slid, they bounce around the same basic ranges over the last five seasons and his value extends beyond just blocking shots and hitting corner threes. Lopez is a terrific screener and good free throw shooter.

He just doesn’t have many weaknesses. He has enough touch around the rim to punish opponent attempts at countering him with smallball and enough range to punish big lineups. He’s not defensively versatile but he’s still probably the league’s second-best defender in drop pick-and-roll coverage behind Rudy Gobert. A veteran who’s all class and one of the hidden treasures in the league in his career.
