Chris Paul is a miracle. Closing in on 40 and he's still on the court, exerting his will and orchestrating the movements and machinations of nine other players. He may be a second slower than he was in his prime but luckily he still sees things two seconds before anyone else does and knows exactly where to deliver the ball or to stop and pop for that clockwork jumper.

The Spurs signed him to help teach and mentor this young roster but also to create easy shots for Victor Wembanyama; and while they may not be the playoff contender they aspired to be and he's given them everything they could have hoped for. Paul was among the league-leaders in assists heading into the All-Star Break and hadn't missed a single game. He's been so good that even the arrival of De'Aaron Fox couldn't dislodge him from the starting lineup — just pushing the Spurs into a two-point-guard set-up.

Other players from his generation are hanging on and continuing to play winning basketball, but they're all surviving by adapting. Paul is slower and more willing to defer but at his core, he's still the same player he always was — the ultimate floor general.
