Desmond Bane looked primed for his first career All-Star nod last season before suffering a Grade 3 left ankle sprain that ended his career-best campaign. He’s experienced a scoring dip in 2024-25 due to the Grizzlies’ improved health, but the efficiency and peripheral contributions elsewhere remain strong.

Bane is a seamless plug-and-play option for virtually any lineup. He’s a burly wing built like an NFL linebacker with a well-rounded skill set and one of the league’s smoothest jump shots. His ability to operate as a primary playmaker when shouldering the load during Ja Morant’s extensive absences in recent years has been a noteworthy development.

But perhaps what’s most interesting about Bane’s game is that he plays at his own pace – rarely do you see defenders slow him down or speed him up. He compliments this with a rare package of strength and being a knockdown three-point marksman to make opponents pay.
