Being a skilled big man in the era of Nikola Jokic must be really annoying, because the Nuggets big man gets all the credit. But Kings center Domantas Sabonis isn’t just a lesser version of the multi-time MVP — he’s a sensational offensive creator in his own right, averaging well over 7 assists per game since joining Sacramento during the 2021-22 season.

Possessing some of the best footwork in basketball, Sabonis is a steadying force down low for the Kings. He whirls around defenders, somehow always manufacturing a good angle on layups and floaters by burrowing his way toward the hoop. A multi-time rebound champion, Sabonis swallows missed shots. He doesn’t do it to pad stats, though; the Kings star changes games by how thoroughly he dominates the boards.
The Kings might not be “Basketball Hell” anymore as Rudy Gay once lovingly called it, but after trading De’Aaron Fox, it’s certainly not Basketball Heaven, either. Sabonis is now searching for a new co-star in Basketball Purgatory.
