There was a point in time about three years ago where calling Ja Morant the 30th best player in basketball would have been overtly disrespectful. But a couple suspensions, long-term injuries and a less explosive start to 2024-25 than we’re used to from Morant have all combined to drop him in the public consciousness.

Still, “dropping” to No. 30 isn’t the worst thing that can happen to you, as after all, Morant is still the second-leading scorer on one of the best teams in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies are no longer the talk of the town, but they’re still cooking up something in Memphis, and Ja remains the key piece of the puzzle. Sell any stock you want in Ja Morant, but don’t come asking for it back when he rips off a 360 layup in the playoffs.
