Jackson’s an elite shot-blocker, using his incredible build and 7-foot-4 wingspan to protect the rim. Foul trouble can be an issue, though it’s because he plays with so much force and energy. Albeit detrimental at times, the approach makes the 2022-23 NBA Defensive Player of the Year the anchor of the Memphis’ stop unit. His comfort stepping out to the perimeter and guarding smaller players is admirable, knowing he has the recovery speed to undo any mistakes he might make.
On the offensive side of the ball, Jackson is a unique big man with a versatile skill set. He's streaky from beyond the arc at times, but the threat of him from deep helps space the floor for the Grizzlies. He can score from inside and out, thanks to an underrated, strong handle and knack for finishing with either hand. To top it all off, JJJ’s continuously improved in the low block, enhancing his already effective post hook or fade.
