It seems as though coming home to Toronto when being traded to the Raptors was the best that could have possibly happened for RJ Barrett’s career. After being the odd man out and proving to be a strange fit in New York, he’s greatly benefited from a change of scenery.

Barrett routinely showcases incredible strength, often getting downhill and bulldozing his way to the basket, finishing around the rim at an impressive rate. The 2019 No. 3 overall pick uses above-average strength to fight off contact through the trees. He’s also taken notable strides as a 3-point shooter and an on-ball playmaker, enabling him to maximize the mentioned penetration skills.
Still only 24 years old, Barrett will have ample time and opportunity to continue growing with a rebuilding Raptors squad finding their direction. Playing for a smaller-market franchise in his native land and avoiding the pressure of the Big Apple has been a blessing in disguise for him.
