SGA in unpredictability incarnate. Pure chaos for an opposing defender. There’s no rhyme or reason to how he moves on the basketball court. Blessed with uncommon dexterity at 6-foot-6, Gilgeous-Alexander has the size, IQ, and touch to win every matchup.

He’s not some elite passer, which you’d expect from arguably the best “point guard” in the NBA, but Gilgeous-Alexander generates advantages at will. Where he might lack the quickness or downhill explosion of his peers, Gilgeous-Alexander compensates with incredible control over tempo and direction. He can shift gears on a dime, accelerating and decelerating better than a high-octane sports car. There are moments when it feels like SGA is stationary and in motion at the same time. His defenders are perpetually off-balance, never able to comfortably get into a stance and stick.
It helps that Gilgeous-Alexander is also an all-world defender. The burden he carries on both ends of the court for OKC is difficult to fathom. That 6-foot-11 wingspan is a blanket wrapped around opposing ball-handlers. Let him roam in passing lanes, and SGA’s nose for the basketball rivals anybody in the league. He’s competitive, with a motor that never stops running. For all the hits he takes on the offensive end, drawing contact and venturing into the belly of the proverbial beast, SGA doesn’t let it detract from his efforts on defense. It’s special.
