A'ja Wilson

LVA | 28 | 6-4 | Big
Offensive Role: Big Hub
Defensive Role: Interior Anchor
A’ja Wilson is one of the best basketball players in the world right now, regardless of league. She is elite on both ends of the court. Defensively, she can block, rebound, and defend any position. On offense, she brings a lethal combination of physicality, footwork, and agility for her size. Over her career, she’s added an ability to pass and facilitate, and of course her incredible leadership on and off the court. What comes out of this is an incredibly well-rounded, skilled, and tough player. She’s nearly impossible to defend, and maybe even harder to score on. Even on inevitable tough nights, she has the IQ to be able to correct herself in-game. When she isn’t the team’s top-scorer, her fingerprints are still on every aspect of the game. She doesn’t just deserve to be a top-35, she is the league’s top 1-of-1.

What we’ll remember about this 2024 season a decade from now

This season was Wilson’s best, proven by her unanimous selection as the league’s Most Valuable Player. On top of that, Wilson was the first player to score 1,000 points in a single regular season and broke the single-season rebounding record. Her 26.9 points per game is the highest player average in WNBA history. She is one of four players in WNBA history to have three MVP titles, and she is only in her seventh career season. On top of all her accomplishments in the WNBA this year, she also represented Team USA at the Olympics and won her second gold medal. It was also announced that Wilson’s first signature shoe, the Nike A’One, will be released in 2025.

Why you should be paying attention in 2025

Obviously, this will be a season to remember for Wilson — yet she could easily top it in the future. She seems to be only entering her prime now, and is only 28 years old — she could have another decade of playing professionally in her future. She could easily outdo herself next season at this rate. One thing is for sure — basketball fans are lucky to be able to watch the greatness that is A’ja Wilson.
