The undisputed 2023 No.1 overall draft pick is a fan favorite on and off the court. Aliyah Boston is a talented frontcourt presence who can score, defend, rebound, and be physical. Her footwork in the post makes her tough to stop. With a point guard like Caitlin Clark on her team, she’s a pick-and-roll dream. She is also an efficiency machine, with a career field goal percentage of 55.2 percent — something that led to consecutive WNBA All-Star Game appearances.

Why they're totally unique
She’s also a National Champion, having won March Madness during her time at the University of South Carolina, coached by Dawn Staley. If Coach Staley knows how to do something, it's to produce All-Star post players. Off the court, Boston’s charisma, leadership, and ability to be incredibly well-spoken despite her young age make her very easy to be a fan of.
Why you should be paying attention in 2025
With only two WNBA seasons under her belt, the young star has so much room to grow – a scary thought based on how good she already looks. She’s surrounded by other young stars in Indiana, and the team is building something special. While they may be trying to find their footing now, in a few seasons they will be a huge threat in the league. As the team finds its collective identity, Boston’s place in the system will solidify as well.
Boston could be a future WNBA MVP — just the way she was in college. With her strength on both ends of the court, she can lead a team and take over a game. As we watch her early days, you can see that she has a fantastic foundation to build on.
