Bridget Carleton is representing Canadians with her ice cold shooting ability! Carleton grew up in Chatham, Ontario, and now she plays in what could be called “Basically Canada” — Minnesota. Carleton came into the WNBA as a lockdown defender and an energy booster, building trust with the Minnesota Lynx by being a dependable option for them.
She’s really coming into her own though, and it’s been a process that is finally starting to take its full form in 2024. BC could always shoot, but this year she is playing with confidence, ease, and efficiency. Maybe it’s because head coach Cheryl Reeve has a ton of trust in her, and that allows her to play her game without worry. Perhaps the incredible play of her teammate Napheesa Collier has motivated Carleton. Whatever the secret sauce is, something has boosted Carleton to being a secret weapon for the Lynx.

Biggest thing accomplished in 2024
Bridget is shooting 44.4 percent from both the field and from 3-point range. She has had multiple game winning shots this season, including one in the first round of the playoffs. She’s gaining stride as a starter-caliber player in the WNBA — something Canadian fans have seen many times on the National Team. Funny enough, she was only inserted into the starting lineup this season because of injuries on the Lynx roster, but proved she should keep the spot, and has not gone back to the bench ever since.
Why you should be paying attention in 2025
Carleton was also a top candidate for the league’s Most Improved Player award, coming in third place. She could definitely be in conversation for more awards in the future if she keeps improving at this rate. She will be someone to look out for in the 2025 season, as well as in international competitions for years to come with Team Canada.
