Brittney Griner

ATL | 34 | 6-9 | Big
Offensive Role: Interior Scorer
Defensive Role: Interior Anchor
Griner may not be the same player that she was during her back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year campaigns at the beginning of her career, but she is still one of the league’s best. Even in a down year, she averaged 17.8 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for the Phoenix Mercury while also contributing 1.5 blocks per contest.

She is still, by far, the most feared player in the league when it comes to opponents attempting shots in the paint. Griner has gotten so good that her block numbers have actually gone down simply because she is no longer challenged in the paint.

A player of her stature is guaranteed to draw attention anyway, but her ability to score at a high rate and defend at an unbelievable level makes her one of the league’s best. She’ll have a new challenge this year playing for the Atlanta Dream, but her resume would indicate that she is up for it.
