Dearica Hamby is one of the top in the WNBA because of her ability to adapt to any circumstance. She is a WNBA champion (Las Vegas 2022) and continues elevating her game despite her exit from the Aces.
Hamby helped lead a young Sparks team which featured Cameron Brink and Rickea Jackson. This season she averaged a career-high 17.3 points 9.2 rebounds and 3.5 assists, separating herself from the pack with her improved shooting and rebounding. The Sparks forward was relentless on the glass and changed the game by creating second-chance points.
Although Los Angeles finished in last place, she helped lead her team to two victories over the Aces.

Why you should be paying attention in 2025
In 2025, Hamby will be one of the main reasons why Los Angeles will turn around the franchise. She is a vocal leader who can relate to younger players while taking over the game. A great defender who can play multiple positions, Hamby will be able to mentor Jackson, Brink and all the other younger players.
The 6-foot-3 forward can space the floor and she can create her own offense. She is a great passer and she has a high IQ. The next coach of the Sparks will be able to use her as the offensive focal point to continue building around.
Taking the next step
The next phase in Hamby’s development is to continue attacking on the offensive side more consistently. She can score against just about anyone but sometimes seems reluctant to take the game into her own hands because she is worried about getting her teammates involved.
The Sparks need her to be a leader and keep everyone in the flow of the offense but she is by far the best offensive player on this roster and needs to play that way every time she’s on the floor.
