Kelsey Mitchell leads the WNBA in shots that make opposing fans say, “Well, she can’t keep making shots like that.”

Unfortunately, she does keep making shots like that. Twisting, falling layups and off-balance 3-pointers that get lost in the Indianapolis cloud cover are common fare for one of the best scorers in the league. Giving her space on the perimeter isn’t effective — Mitchell has been one of the league’s most efficient shooters for years. Getting up in her face won’t work, either — she’ll be by the defender and at the hoop in a blink.
Mitchell might not be the most famous player on the Indiana Fever. That doesn’t make her any less important to the team’s goals, which are, pretty plainly, to win a WNBA championship.
