Kelsey Plum

Offensive Role: Slashing Guard
Defensive Role: Off-Ball Guard
Kelsey Plum lands near the top of this coveted player ranking list because she continues to be a main catalyst for arguably the most talented team in the entire WNBA. The Las Vegas Aces guard averaged 17.8 points per game (10th in the league) this season to pair with 4.2 assists (11th) and 2.6 rebounds a night. To put up such impressive numbers alongside a slew of other stars on her team is a feat in and of itself, but her ability to get hot and single-handedly win games is a rarity in the W. She missed two games but was still seventh in total minutes played this season, which highlights just how much her team needs her.

Taking the next step

Despite her high ranking, 2024 was not Kelsey Plum’s best season. There is a lot that she can improve upon in the offseason in order to move her way up this list even further. The most obvious aspect of her game that needs improvement for the 2025 season is her decision-making. She has had such a successful career in the W that shortcomings are not always palatable for her. She will force up shots if she is struggling to get going and is a bit too careless at times with the ball. She had eight games this season with 4+ turnovers and only two games with no turnovers. It’s hard to pick apart her game too much because she is so dynamic but choosing her spots better could take her game to the next level.

Why you should be paying attention in 2025

Plum will certainly have a bounce-back year in 2025 as she continues to adapt and adjust to A’ja Wilson’s prowess. Wilson took her game to new levels during the 2024 season, and her heightened dominance took some getting used to for the rest of the Aces squad. Although Wilson was at the top of her game, it seemed like the offense was disjointed at times and the team had no solutions. But Kelsey Plum has been a finalist for the Most Improved Player Award three separate times in her career, so I expect her to do just that: improve.
