Leonie Fiebich was drafted into the WNBA from Europe and her rights bounced around the league a bit before they landed with the New York Liberty. In 2024, she finally came over to play her rookie season for the Liberty, immediately impressing the entire league.

Fiebich played 40 games for the Liberty in 2024, starting in 15 of them as an injury replacement. Often deployed as the team’s sixth woman, Fiebich brought energy off the bench. When the playoffs started, Coach Brondello opted to start Fiebich over Vandersloot to add more size to her lineup.

In the playoffs, she scored 11.6 points per game, shooting 54.2 percent from the field and 52.1 percent from 3-point range (97th percentile league-wide). Her shooting ability mixed with her defensive power made her a secret weapon for the Liberty, one many teams had access to, but gave away in trades without bringing her over from Europe.
