Marina Mabrey is a flat-out professional and always plays the game the right way. She was traded at the deadline to the Connecticut Sun where she had the chance to help her team chase a championship. While in Chicago, she was a mentor to Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter, Karmala Cordozo, and others. The Sky depended on the Notre Dame product to be their leading scorer and leader of the team. After being traded, she was placed into the second unit for Connecticut, giving them an offensive boost and shooting the lights out. Mabrey averaged 14.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.4 assists while shooting a blazing 42.4 percent from downtown with the Sun.

Taking the next step

In 2025, Mabrey can improve her shot selection and improve her shooting efficiency from mid-range. Sometimes she can be too reliant on her 3-point shooting instead of putting her head down and attacking the rim. If she stays with Connecticut next season, she will be with a team that plays to her strengths. The Sun needed a shooter and someone who plays with an edge night in and night out. Often, Connecticut would struggle to space the floor for AT which is the engine that gets the team moving. Mabrey will need to attack the rim more off of back door cuts and keep moving without the ball, providing as much distraction as possible to the opposing defense.

Why you should be paying attention in 2025

We should pay attention to Mabrey in 2025 because she will be on a team that will use her in all aspects. The Sun are reloading and making another run at a title and she will be a key part of their rotation and offensive attack.
