Tina Charles seemingly drank from the fountain of youth before this season as the 35-year-old played and started in 39 contests after not appearing in a game during the 2023 season. She was not the MVP-level, First Team All-WNBA caliber player that she was during her prime, but she still averaged nearly a double-double. Her 9.6 rebounds per game were tied for her highest output since 2016, and her 14.9 points were her best since 2021.

Biggest thing accomplished in 2024

It is difficult to pinpoint the biggest thing that Tina Charles accomplished during the 2024 season because the list is too long and impressive. She moved into second on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list, trailing only Diana Taurasi. But she moved into first on both the all-time rebounding and double-double list, meaning that she is now in a league of her own in several ways. She has put together one of the most impressive careers that the W has ever seen. Oh, and she had her first career triple-double this season, in her 14th year. Who does that?? Only Tina Charles.

What we’ll remember about this 2024 season a decade from now

The thing that fans will remember most about Charles’ 2024 campaign is not necessarily the records that she broke or her climb up the all-time leaderboards, but just the simple fact that she came back and performed like the Tina Charles we all remember. After a tumultuous 2022 season and taking the year off in 2023, it would have been easy for Charles to ride off into the sunset and accept that her playing days are over. But this season proved that father time would have to wait for Charles to hang her own jersey up. She is one of the greatest that the game has ever seen, and she may have more in the tank.
