UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is anxiously awaiting this weekend’s The Ultimate Fighter season 17 finale to see who wins the No. 1 contender match up between Miesha Tate and Cat Zingano.
Rousey will face off against the winner of that bout later this year after a stint as a coach on The Ultimate Fighter season 18.
On last night’s episode of “UFC Tonight” on FUEL TV, Rousey shared her thoughts on the upcoming bout and gave her preference on a future opponent. While Rousey didn’t predict a winner, she said that she is rooting for Tate, because she would love to coach opposite her on TUF 18.
Rousey went on to say that while she prefers coaching against Tate, she would like to fight Zingano so that the two undefeated fighters can see who is most deserving of the title.
“I think I would prefer to coach against Miesha, so I’m kind of rooting for her,” she said. “But to have two undefeated fighters fighting for a title – which it would be against Cat – is something that I think would be an amazing experience as well.”
Rousey is one of the promotion’s brightest stars and biggest pay-per view draws so, regardless of her opponent, there will be interest in her title defense.
You can also expect the ratings for The Ultimate Fighter season 18 to be at an all-time high.
