Michael Bisping Undergoes Surgery For Detached Retina

UFC middleweight Michael Bisping won his last fight after an accidental eye poke left Alan Belcher unable to continue in the bout. Fortunately for Belcher, he was able to avoid any serious damage to the eye. For Bisping, however, it was a completely different story. Bisping suffered a detached retina during the fight and was forced to undergo surgery, according to a report on FUEL TV’s UFC tonight.

“After the fight against Alan Belcher, Michael Bisping completely lost all peripheral vision in his right eye,” Ariel Helwani said on UFC Tonight. “He went to see an eye on doctor on Tuesday and he found out that he had a detached retina. On Thursday, he had surgery to fix the detached retina. He’s hoping to return to the UFC in October.”

There have been no future fight rumors linked to Bisping, but he is near the top of the middleweight division and will demand a high profile opponent.
