An exciting light heavyweight match up is set to headline tonight’s UFC 161 event in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. 205-pound contenders Dan Henderson and Rashad Evans will be taking center stage in what could be the last chance at earning a title shot for either contender.
Henderson said that he plans to see the best version of Evans that we have ever seen, but that won’t stop him from looking to land one of his devastating H-Bombs and putting a stop to the fight. In fact, a stoppage is Henderson’s goal.
“I’m expecting to fight the best Rashad Evans that there ever was, and that’s what I hope for. I hope that he’s at his best and that’s just going to make for a more exciting fight,” Henderson told Ariel Helwani on FUEL TV following the weigh-ins.
“I think it’s going to be a war and I plan on stopping him.”
The winner of this fight will have a real shot at being next in line to face off against champion Jon Jones, who is set to fight Alexander Gustafsson this fall.
An interesting fight would be the winner of this bout against Lyoto Machida to determine the next No. 1 contender, but we will have to see what UFC president Dana White’s master plan is following the event on Saturday night.
