UFC heavyweight Daniel Cormier has an upcoming fight scheduled against The Ultimate Fighter: Heavyweights champion Roy Nelson. With a win, Cormier has openly stated that he is hoping to drop to light heavyweight and receive an immediate title shot against champion Jon Jones.
Jones has responded by saying that Cormier is not relevant to him, along with making fun of his following on Twitter — yeah, he decided to go there. Jones went on to trash Cormier for his “short reach” and “bad cardio” as he sounded off in comments that really didn’t do much for the champion’s image of being arrogant and childish at times.
Apparently whenever Cormier heard the comments, he decided to fire back.
Cormier sounded off during the UFC 163 post-fight show on FUEL TV and he had some very direct advice for the champ.
“When I hear his quote, it’s like a 16-year old girl,” said Cormier. “Jon Jones, grow up bud, we’re going to fight regardless of how you feel. And when we do and I’m cutting the line and you might as well pull the guard because I’m taking you down.”
While a potential Jones vs. Cormier bout is still a fantasy that seems far off in the distance, fight fans are beginning to get excited about the rivalry that is forming and the great fight that it could lead to inside of the octagon.
