UFC Fight Night 28: Glover Teixeira knocks out Ryan Bader in Round 1

UFC Fight Night 28 was headlined by a key light heavyweight match up that could drastically alter the landscape at the top of the 205-pound ladder. The participants, Glover Teixeira and Ryan Bader, were looking for wins for two very different reasons.

For Teixeira, he was hoping that his 20th straight victory would be enough to secure a title shot, while Bader was looking to shock the world and make a huge splash in the top 10 in the division.

When the two men entered the octagon in Brazil, it was on.

Bader immediately shot in for a takedown to start the fight, but Teixeira continued his 100 percent takedown defense to stuff the former TUF champion. TO put things in his favor, Teixeira, who is a former member of the Brazilian National Wrestling Team, landed a takedown of his own before taking the fight against the cage.

After some time against the cage, Bader separated but continued to keep the pressure on the Brazilian.

A short shot from Bader stumbled Teixeira, but when Glover Teixeira was hurt he was able to land a beautiful combination that sent Bader crumbling to the mat. Teixeira jumped on Bader and finished the fight with some brutal ground-and-pound in Round 1.
