In this day and age, it is easy for MMA news to slip under the radar from the casual fan. Today, I recap the biggest stories of the last few days that may have been lost in the shuffle.
UFC suspends Ben Rothwell
Ben Rothwell, coming off his electrifying win at UFC 164 against Brandon Vera, was suspended by the UFC for 9 months for testing positive for elevated levels of testosterone. The suspension is different than other similar cases, because the Wisconsin commission did not suspend Rothwell. Rothwell was granted a TRT exemption by the Wisconsin commission for the Vera fight, but still tested positive for elevated levels. The commission decided to give Rothwell and administrative warning, but the UFC decided to suspend him. An interesting twist to the events is that the Wisconsin commission had never before given a TRT exemption, and thus had no authority to suspend Rothwell or to reverse his win to a No Contest. Rothwell’s win over Vera will stand at this point.
Alexander Gustafsson leaves Alliance MMA to train in Sweden
Gus is going home. He has decided to leave Alliance MMA in favor of returning to Sweden. Could this possibly set up the rematch with Phil Davis I predicted earlier this week?

Ian McCall has some harsh words regarding the homeless
Earlier this week, Ian McCall decided to take to twitter to state his opinion on the homeless. McCall said: ‘I hate the homeless … I don’t feel sorry for you. If you want change then let me throw it as hard as I can at your dirty face’. He later apologized for the tweets saying he was having a bad day.
