Brazilian fighters should be open to Chael Sonnen

When it was announced that Chael Sonnen would be coaching opposite of Wanderlei Silva on “The Ultimate Fighter Brazil 3“ there were jokes about the former middleweight and light heavyweight title contender needing security during his time in Brazil.

Silva even made a request to have it be American fighters vs. Brazilian fighters. Although I am a fan of “The Axe Murderer” I think this idea is silly. Sonnen even said he would willing to coach Brazilian fighters.

It is true that Sonnen has taken shots at Brazilian competitors, their countrymen and the land itself, I personally hope that Brazilian fighters will open enough to accept Sonnen as their coach.

As fans saw on “The Ultimate Fighter 17“ Sonnen proved he was a good mentor to his team. If a fighter has an issue, he could pull the coach aside and talk with him, although Sonnen would need probably need a translator who speaks Portuguese.

Even if there are some fighters who have reserves of being under the tutelege of a man who disrepected their county, they might a change of heart after spending all of those weeks with him and getting to know him. Who knows, Sonnen’s words, which have enthralled so many American fans, may turn some Brazilain fighters against Silva.
