The UFC was actively seeking a replacement for former TUF champion John Dodson, after he suffered an undisclosed injury that forced him out of his scheduled UFC on FOX 9 match up with Scott Jorgensen. The event takes place Dec. 14 at Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California, so any fighter stepping up would have to fight on very short notice.

For former Bellator and current RFA flyweight champion Zach Makovsky, the short notice wouldn’t be enough to keep him from getting his shot inside of the octagon.

Makovsky has signed with the UFC and will compete against Jorgensen on the Dec. 14 card, but UFC officials have not yet made the announcement official.

With the changes to the main card, here is how the UFC on FOX 9 lineup currently looks:

MAIN CARD

  • Champ Demetrious Johnson vs. Joseph Benavidez - for UFC flyweight title
  • Urijah Faber vs. Michael McDonald
  • Matt Brown vs. Carlos Condit
  • Nik Lentz vs. Chad Mendes

PRELIMINARY CARD

  • Ryan LaFlare vs. Court McGee
  • Scott Jorgensen vs. Zach Makovsky
  • Edson Barboza vs. Danny Castillo
  • Mac Danzig vs. Joe Lauzon
  • Bobby Green vs. Pat Healy
  • Roger Bowling vs. Abel Trujillo
  • Cody McKenzie vs. Sam Stout
  • Alp Ozkilic vs. Darren Uyenoyama
