Former professional boxer and current undefeated mixed martial artist Holly Holm is one of the top women’s bantamweight prospects in the sport. It seems like only a matter of time until Holm gets the opportunity to show off her skills on the sport’s biggest stage, but she isn’t ready just yet.
According to Holm’s boxing coach Mike Winklejohn, she has already turned down a contract offer from the UFC because the timing just wasn’t right.
However, Winklejohn is confident that Holm will be making the leap to the UFC soon.
As Holly Holm looks to extend her professional MMA record to 6-0 Friday night, the question remains just how far “The Preacher’s Daughter” is from fighting in the UFC.
According to her long-time coach Mike Winkeljohn, the UFC has already offered her a deal.
“We have talked to the UFC a few times already,” Winkeljohn told MMAFighting.com. “We’re just a little far apart on making the deal. We’re just waiting for the UFC to make the right deal, and we’re ready to go.”
It is only a matter of time until Holm makes the leap up in competition and it will be interesting to see who the UFC matches her up against first when she eventually makes the jump.
There are plenty of exciting women’s bantamweight prospects in the division, so Holm could quickly rise to stardom in the UFC once they are able to showcase her on their fight cards. Until then, she will just be known as a top prospect by the die-hard MMA fans that are following all of the promotions around the sport.
