Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua and James Te-Huna battle tonight in a matchup between a young lion and an MMA legend. Will tonight be a passing of the torch, or will Shogun put in a vintage performance?

Shogun (21-8) has lost his last two bouts at the hands of Alexander Gustafsson and Chael Sonnen. The latter coming by way of submission. Shogun’s unbelievable career seems to have finally taken a toll on his body. He has looked slow and sluggish in his last few outings, but we will see if he can turn it around tonight.

James Te-Huna (16-6) is one of the few prospects in the aging Light Heavyweight division. After racking off four straight wins inside the Octagon, Te-Huna was given a big step up in competition when he face #1 contender, Glover Teixeira. It proved to be too much too soon for Te-Huna, as he was submitted early in Round 1. He will look to bounce back tonight with an impressive performance over Shogun.

Round 1: Big exchange from both men to start. Outside leg kick from Shogun. Big right hook from Shogun and a leg kick. Te Huna takedown is stuffed by Shogun. Body shot from Shogun. Counter left hook from Shogun drops James Te Huna and he is out cold. Unbelievable. James Te Huna is out cold from that shot. That was a vintage Shogun performance. I am completely blown away.

Official Decision: Mauricio Shogun Rua knocks out James Te Huna Round 1 (1:09)
