Former UFC contenders, Rousimar Palhares and Yushin Okami, will both make their World Series of Fighting debuts March 29th according to Brazilian MMA outlet, Sporttv.Globo. WSOF’s executive Vice President and matchmaker, Ali Abdelaziz, confirmed with Globo that they are looking for opponents for both men.
Abdelaziz said that WSOF is looking at Jon Fitch, Josh Burkman, or Gerald Harris as Palhares’ first WSOF opponent. If you remember, after Palhares was cut from the UFC earlier this year for holding on to a leg lock too long, Jon Fitch said that he would not accept a fight with Palhares because he is dirty. Can WSOF get Fitch to sign a fight against Palhares? Only time will tell.
WSOF also noted that when they signed Palhares, they would have a zero tolerance policy with him. If he holds on to a submission too long, or does some other unsportsmanlike conduct, he will immediately be cut from the organization.
Yushin Okami, who was cut from the UFC after a devastating KO loss to Jacare Souza, will also be making his WSOF debut March 29th. At this time, Abdelaziz did not mention any specific opponents for Okami, but stated that he will fight in March.
